More Responsibility and Independence
One of the key benefits of having independent online courses is to give your child the space to become, you guessed it, independent. One day, your child won’t have mom and dad there to steer them in the right direction; they’ll have to drive their own educational experience. A great way to introduce them to academic responsibility is to loosen the leash and allow them to show you what they’re made of. Instead of choosing their courses for them, allow your student to choose from the variety of online classes offered so they are more excited and poised to take responsibility. You demonstrate trust by giving them the flexibility to decide for themselves. This can boost their confidence and give them the practice they need to be more self-sufficient in their studies.
“The more risks you allow your children to make, the better they learn to look after themselves” - ROALD DAHL
Break up the Day With Variety Homeschooling with the same curriculum can get monotonous. Why not change up your homeschool day with an independent online course? Choose from electives and CTE courses that pique your child’s interests, like Introduction to Art, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Healthy Living, and more. Looking forward to specific breaks in the day can help you retain knowledge and give you a better attitude toward those more challenging courses. 5
